Drawing Exercises

Will the book "The Natural Way to Draw" help me improve my drawing if I don't have the models?

Ok, so this book "The Natural Way to Draw" by Kimon Nicolaides has a lot of reviews on it, but I looked at it at the library and the author wants the artist to use real life models for drawing exercises in his book. I opted to not get the book for that reason because I don't have models to draw from; furthermore, should I still get the book? And can it help me even if I don't have life models to draw from? Also, I already used "Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, I thought it was great, but I want to learn how to expand my skills.

  1. any book of instruction you get will be of vast help and as far as models you can use photos of family friends and class mates I have bought books on how to paint in a different style and they all have helped great
  2. While the emphasis on models in the Natural way to Draw is discouraging to someone without easy access to them, you are expected to use his techniques on everything. Fabric and trees are good. It's definitely worth reading if you can't "use" it.
