Drawing Exercises

Does hand/arm/wrist exercises affect my drawing skills?

Doing knuckle, finger push-ups and holds make them sore and ache for an hour or so. Do they influence my art skills in anyway?

  1. my physio told me I have to rest my hands if they get real sore but she showed me some gentle massage techniques that help. Also I wear these great healing gloves so I can keep drawing when before i would have been in agony.
  2. I would think so ,you don't say in what way its affecting your drawing skills I assume for the worst, having problems drawing? I firmly believe if you work a lot with your fingers, hands, and wrists you absolutely need strength conditioning in your shoulders, the trunk of the arm branch if you will. I would suggest to double up on all three heads of you shoulders, the guy in the video has the exercises that I would suggest, though I do think hes moving a little too quick to where he appears to be unintentionally swinging the weights a bit (Cheating) I would keep it slower and methodical concentrating and flexing the muscle at the top and bottom of each movement to get its full benefit. Also keep the weight light if you not use to doing shoulder work. One more thing is get a pair of hand exercisers when when using these keep your arms close to your body almost hunching your shoulders for better grip strength If this doesn't help your extremities, it should at least help your overall arm strength and training . Good Luck
