Drawing Exercises

Anyone know any creative teaching ideas or art projects for 11 year olds?

I am teaching a small class of 11 year olds in rural Ecuador and I have never taught before. The kids don´t get to do many creative exercises or art projects, they mostly work in textbooks. I would like to incorporate some creative exercises for teaching math, science, and social studies. Also, I would like to do more art projects with the kids. Unfortunately, I can´t think of anything. Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  1. We recently did research on totem poles and then created our own class totem pole. The kids loved the project! They learned a great deal about different cultures and were able to work with paper mache to create and incredible piece of art. We also studied the planets and made 3-dimensional representations that attached to our classroom wall. We made them relatively to scale and then spaced them appropriately across the room. We posted a scale for distance, tons of information. It was awesome! There is so much more! Try doing some internet searches for teacher resources. You should quickly becomed overwhelmed with ideas.
