  1. this may sound really dumb but it worked for me, if you have the game guitar hero or rock band you should play it on hard or expert every other day, this helps with reflexes, coordination, and speed in techniques, and you don't have to do it with a partner
  2. Shadow sparring is the best way, because all the actions are repetitious which therefore increases you co-ordination and ability to correctly perform techniques.
  3. I don't have any specific ones that I teach but I always suggest people think of their own. The ability to create your own drills will be of immeasurable value to you in your journey. To give you an idea of what I would consider potential reflex drill tools: 1. Hand eye reflexes - juggling, the super bouncy balls ricochet can be a good challenge, etc. 2. Music - timing/rhythm reflexes can be trained with music. There are lots of ways to work specific functions, specific muscle groups. Which ones do you really want or need right now? Think of how exactly you need them to respond, and then try to create ways to cause the same kind of stimuli/situations. Is it to respond to a technique that is coming at you, to help you move in range, out of range? etc... Good luck!
  4. For avoiding strikes, tie a tennis ball and to the ceiling or an overhead bar. Strike the ball once and then dodge it by bobbing and weaving. This is great because the movement of such a small object is difficult to predict.
  5. Start out slow not fast. Start out slow not fast. Get smooth first and fast will come naturally. Practice practice practice. Do 4 count burpies where you bend your knees touch the ground kicking your feet back then a pushup and feet forwards and stand up start again. Also, do push - ups where you clap your hands. These are plyometric. Ride a bicycle under tree branches- start slow - dodging low limbs from striking your head. Speed up after you are smooth.
  6. A bob or a slip is your best bet.
