Drawing Exercises

Projective Drawing in Children Question?

What is the generally accepted interpretation of a child drawing a person from the back view - as opposed to a face or profile view - when completing a draw-a-person exercise?

  1. I think you need to look at the cultural context. In some cultures - to some children - it may mean that person is protecting them from outside forces. For children from another culture, it might mean they are being ignored and shunned. This is a complex issue that has many different aspects to consider. I don't know if you can get a general answer to it.
