  1. copy the masters , draw portraits from life, nature etc., anatomy books
  2. Best way to improve your skills is to join some life drawing classes (unless your under 16, then draw your family and friends & pets from life)
  3. I remember doing this really cool exercise in high school. We timed ourselves and varied the time. Sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes 1 min, sometimes 10 minutes. We would have to draw our hand without looking at the paper and without lifting the pencil. It was amazing how much that improved my drawing technique. Also set up a still life or have someone sit for you and draw them. Do 30 second to 30 minute sketches from different angles. Obtain a newspaper pad and do the sketches on this. It helps you to learn scale and develop your skill. Also move positions around the object or person you're drawing each time your time is up. It's neat to see how much you improve after doing it several times.
