Can you use drawing paper for pastels?

i just got some pastels but they didn't have any pastel paper left and i was wondering if i could use drawing/sketch book paper? would it come out good?

1. It will come out, but it won't stick as well as pastel paper. If there's no pastel paper, charcoal paper works just as well. Also, if you just want to sketch, pastel works on newsprint paper which is cheaper than charcoal or pastel paper.
