How can i break a habit of tilting my paper sideways when drawing? I started doing that when I learned cursive
I'm an "artist". I'm not very good but I'm learning. I've alwasy tilted my paper sideways ever since I learned to write in cursive. Its hard for me to draw with my paper straight, but when I tilt my paper, my drawing turns out lopsided! How do I break this habit?

- tape the paper
- Tape the paper to the desk and practice doing it that way.
- They say that true artist always turn the paper.....well...that's what my art teacher told me!!!...she could have been a nut job though!!!
- Some people do a lot better by continuing what they do best. I would not try to break that habit.
- Don't break that habit. Just keep practicing and you'll be one of the best with a different style of drawing. C'mon everybody wants to be unique.
- You could try working with an easel. When drawing on a flat surface your already at a disadvantage because your looking at your drawing on an angle. Depending on what your doing it usually has a tenancy to make people draw things taller and thinner then they had intended. Meanwhile, it also depends on what your working on, when doing rough drawings I work vertically on a tilted surface, ether and easel, drafting table or animation desk. and when I do cleaner more precise drawings I work on an animation desk so I can rotate the paper. Everybody's hand has a certain what it likes to go , for me it's left to right and upwards, so I'll tilt my paper what ever way I need to so that I can draw the lines in that direction- even if I'm drawing upside down. In the end what ever gets the job done is fine.
