Drawing Exercises

I am so Confused with these How do oyu work them out to get the table?

For each equation in exercises 25 to 28, identify the axis of symmetry, create a suitable table of values, and sketch the graph (including the axis of symmetry).Problem # 1. x^2-5x+3 Problem # 2. x^2+6x-2

  1. If y = ax^2 + bx + c, the equation of the axis of symmetry is x = -b/(2a). So in prob. 1, it's x = -(-5)/(2) = 5/2. So since you know this is in the center of your parabola, choose values for x to put in your table that are on either side of 5/2, say 0,1,2,3,4,5 Then plug these in for x to get the y-coordinate 0^2 -5(0) + 3 = 3 so (0,3) 1^2 - 5(1) + 3 = -1 so (1,-1) 2^2 - 5(2) + 3 = -3 so (2, -3) etc. Then plot the points and connect, and draw in the axis of symmetry.
