what are some good excercises for sketching/drawing ?
i want to make my car/automobile drawing hobbies more perfected meaning i want to have more depth and details of effort into my projects. i cant say im the worst artist around but im not certainly the best either. just asking are there any techniques or exercises u can do to improve ur art skills with the pencil on paper. planning to take art classes in college next year so im going to learn these sooner or later but id rather learn sooner. thx for the answers hmm does it really matter if i want to be better in sketching does it have to be seperated by if i want to get into professional designing or just as an art? anyhow i thought i made it clear that its as a hobby that i want to be better at but i also do want to get more serious into art in college but thats something out of what im asking for. to mr.what: good advice on asking urself if that should be there. thatl help. i am practicing more on rendering as i have more of a basic understanding of proportions so im getting there. i am very good with shading but never really execute it on drawings of cars, just havent reached that level yet to make real definitions on them maybe i will in the future. thx for the tips. any other answers guys ?

- it is not clear:u want to go for automobile/car designing or just art for which u want to perfect. both are miles apart. pl make it clear first to get proper reply
- In order to draw well with a pencil on paper all you have to do is think about what it is that you are doing. You have to realize the reality of the image you are drawing, which in this case is a car. You have to know how much of an oval the wheel will appear from a certain angle, and how much of the car you will see. Vehicles are in their most basic form just a rectangle laying on the ground. Just practice and be honest with yourself, look at what you've drawn and ask questions like "Would I really see this part of the car from this angle?" or, "Are the wheel wells too far apart?" Look at real cars, and draw them, find out what makes them look like they do. Maybe it's the way it's shaded, maybe it's the reflections. Then create it.
- look at paul klees theory in drawing called 'take the line for a walk' this is where you start off drawing smthing random like lines or squiggles and then letting the lines evolve from your imagination.Have a go its fun!
- First of all, you have to draw a lot. 10 - 13 hours a day. One exercise which helped me a lot: draw a vertical line, from the top of paper to the bottom. Then draw another line, just side by side the previous one, and than another. Make a wide strip from that lines, draw hundreds of the lines. Grade the value, so that the strip is similar to rainbow, in black and white, of course. Then you can try horizontals, circles, curved lines. Draw it all days and at least one month. After that you can draw from life, the things you see around. Good luck. http://culturexy.blogspot.com
- art like any skill requires practice to get better. artist who have reached professional status devote 8 or more hours a day to perfecting their skills. go out and draw every car you can find unttil you can draw any car without going out to find it.
- You can look at cars from online and print the ones out you like then try drawing with a refrence. Then start with a type of car and start drawing it and getting use to its shape and details, then try without a refrence. It is alot easier to start out with a refrence, and then you will do great! =]
