how many heads make the human body when ever drawing it? I learned in the videos from riven Phoenix that are called drawing the human figure from your mind that the human body is made up by 8 heads. but today in art class my teacher told my friend next to me that to get the exact height for his boxers that he was drawing that it was 7 heads that made up the human body. so I am confused what is the exact heads to use for drawing the human body.
Trying to remember the name of a classic book on sketching the human figure? There is a classic book on sketching - kind of like 'The Elements of Style' is for writers... I think it was published in the 1950's or 1960's. Its a very slim book with a picture of a sketched figure on the front - a line drawing. The authors name (I think) is French or maybe German sounding. There are many foundational excercises in it, such as making one-minute sketches of the figure; drawing without taking one's pencil from the page (with no erasing, of course) - even drawing quick sketches without looking at the page. It's very good for artists who want to free themselves up from drawing too painstakingly and analytically - and it came decades before 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' (an excellent book - they complement one another. 'Right Side' is about shape and proportion and seeing; the book I am trying to remember is about mass and motion in the figure - felt quickly). Somebody's got to remember the name of this little book -only because it is so famous. Help! No, its not Gnagy - this is a classic book on sketching the human figure - all drawing students used to use it. Like a primer. But thanks for trying.

Find the (a) x coordinate and (b) the y coordinate of the center of mass of the human figure.? A drawing of a human figure in a sitting position showing three parts to the figure. These parts are the torso, neck, and head (total mass=42.4 kg) with a center mass located on the y axis at a point 0.356 m above the origin, the upper legs (mass=19.1 kg) with a center mass located on the x axis at a point 0.153 m to the right of the origin, and the lower legs and feet (total mass=10.5 kg) with a center of mass located at 0.497 to the right of an 0.244 m below the origin. What sites do you recommend for human model references in various poses as a resource for figure drawing? I'll begin with a disclaimer. I'm not interested in sexual or even suggestive or "playful" poses at all. I simply wish to improve my skill at figure drawing. I often prefer models without clothing or drapes only because it allows me to see muscle structure, folds, ribs and collar bones. Most importantly, it allows me to study how the body stretches and condenses to balance itself in various postures. In many cases, I will be drawing clothing or drapes onto the figure after I have blocked out the correct shapes. I am looking for classical and sculptural poses for my current project because I am also exploring mythological themes from various cultures. I am looking for male or female, young or old (but all adults), any race or ethnicity, any body type. They may be photos or 3D digital models. In fact, 3D digital models sans skin (to show the muscle groups and such under the skin) might even be an ideal study aid. The greater the variety, the better. I'm hoping to collect several websites, if such exist. I will likely pass this information on to other artists in need of such a resource in the future. Unfortunately, my own searches have garnered disappointing results. I'm going to continue searching, but I suspect that this sort of puzzle is best resolved by networking with other artists. What have you found and used in the past? What would you recommend? What do you recommend I avoid? Thanks in advance for your help! This search is turning into a real headache. Any suggestions you have are absolutely appreciated. Shawna
Suggestions on figure drawing? Okay so I have to pick a figure drawing I like (human body) and write a page on why I like it. What the hell do I write to fill an entire page?!?!

Well, I do have some ideas but I want to know if anyone has any photos that I can draw or any ideas that would make an interesting pose for my drawing I need a song that I can draw/paint a picture for AP Art? Sorry if it offends you, its just not my preference, thanks!) I had some ideas, like Coldplay's speed of sound, & Amber by 311, but I'm not sure how I could draw that, does anyone have any ideas as to how I could draw a picture regarding those songs? I want to get better at drawing the human form. Need help please!? We had a life drawing class at college today but instead of all nude it was for fashion illustration(although the woman did get naked for 5 mins at the end) and i couldnt draw her clothes at all! i found it very difficult to make her in proportion when she was clothed! I was wondering if anyone had any tips or videos etc that would help me as i want to do pin-ups in my next project and i want to be able to draw people in general! So human figure and also features and hair if possible :) thanks for any help. If people are honestly going to offer to do some modelling in photo form etc then, without meaning to seem weird, i guess underwear and also tiered skirts and ruffled materials like dresses is what i had most trouble with :S Also getting textures right e.g lace, netting and leather. this sounds pretty much like im asking for saucy pics which is making me a little uncompfortable but thats not how i meant it :) thanks xxx

Figure drawing help: how do I "breathe life" into my sketches? I'm a senior in high school, and have decided to pursue art. I'm very much still a beginner. Right now, I'm working on the human form. The trouble I'm having is that all my sketches/drawings look very stiff and tense. Do you have any tips for making my drawings more life-like and candid instead of frozen poses?
is it allowed to draw 'human-anatomy' in islam? ive got art and design and one of the courses is human drawing, like serious human drawing taking ratio of shoulder and head and abs and all that. is it bad/haram/forbidden to draw exact human figures in islam. no offense intended. thank you.

Ok so its the end of the school year for me and I want to become a concept artist , to which I did a year of art classes and I am doing much more for my senor year. I want to be able to find a book which can teach me the right things or atleast get me a good idea on what to do. I know reading art books isnt going to be the same affect as taking an art class but atleast during summer I wil be doing something to imrpove.

Which Art Classes should I be looking for if I want to learn how to draw human figures? I'll be perfectly honest, I have absolutely no talent or skill with drawing or illustrating. Sadly, one of my biggest passions is Marvel comics(mostly X-Men) and the more I read the more I wish I could draw just to get my own ideas out on paper since I'm a big idea person with a vision in my head that I just can't transfer to paper. I looked at classes offered at my local community colleges(One of which I will be attending next year) but I'm not sure which classes are the ones that focus on drawing people. Is there a certain class I should be looking for or a certain style? What are some other ways to learn to draw human figures? Thanks in advance! Examples of stuff I'd like and styles that appeal to me: Purely fan-made: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/89/X-Men2006withoutdeadpool.JPG/500px-X-Men2006withoutdeadpool.JPG How Marvel Does it: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3048/3081646144_2e69d03b2d_o.jpg Older Marvel Style: http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/4/35803-3092-39975-1-uncanny-x-men-the_super.jpg I'm open to all suggestions. I have looked up many tutorials but I have found none of them informative enough to really help me. I have tried copying another picture and drawing it over and over, but it was far too hideous for words. I'm looking for classes mainly because I did take an art class in Middle School and when walked through how to draw something, I found it much easier. Please Please help me!
How Accurate Do The Figure Drawings Need To Be? I’m working on a new series of Drawings and Paintings and it requires a lot of figures in the pieces. Most of the figures morph into something else. I’ve had at least 6 semesters of figure drawing under my belt with of course my degree, but I don’t have money to pay for a model to come in for me to do sketches. Any ideas? I have a pretty good idea how the human body is…however, I’m far from perfect! My question also is do they really need to be totally accurate to get a message across, or can they just evoke a feeling or a presence and still be considered good art.
Do you have to learn this first to be a good drawing artist? Hi, I have no training as a drawing artist. I have never gone to school, college or even taken courses on drawing. My friends used to tell me that I had a good drawing skills but I never believed it. Now, years later, I would like to know if I can improve those skills and be a good artist for myself. I don't intent to make a career as an artist but to do it for enjoyment only. I would like to learn how to draw well. It does not matter if is the human figure, cartoon or anything else. All I want to do is be a good artist. My questions to you are very simple: What can I do learn how to draw well on my own? any books? I have leaned a great deal about the right side of the brain in drawing but would it help me expand? I never had the chance to go to college but I am curious as what they teach in the first years in art classes: Do they teach technique? If so what do they start with and what do they end with? What do they tell you to practice first? What do they tell you when you can't accomplish tasks? I have been going to the library for some time and have checked books on the so called "how to draw" but every technique is different. I would like to start by knowing what to learn as basics. I know it all depends on what I like draw but a little help would help a lot. Thank you!
How do you draw the human body? I'm looking for some sort of a tutorial to draw the human body. (I'm talking pencils here). Where can I find a tutorial or some sort of guide that will teach me how to draw the human body and apply basic techniques on creating a human figure? Thanks!

I want to learn how to draw human figures on paper and draw fashion designs on them? I need to learn the basics of fashion designing. I love to design fasion and I'm very into learning. I need a little help on how to draw the people that you draw the clothes on e.g: Female girl and male boy. I need to learn how to make the poses and how to sketch them onto paper. I need to know what supplies to use and how to do it. If there are any tips you could give me tell me please. I'm going to take art classes in school but I want to learn by myself. Picasso and the human figure...? I was just wondering, anyone know a good site to find some pictures by Picasso (preferably in his 'blue period' or cubist pictures) that ISN'T Google? And does anyone know a picture by Picasso of the human figure that would be kind of easy to draw / paint etc??
Is learning to draw better mostly a matter of just getting out the sketchbook and practicing? Rather than reading endless books and articles on drawing the human figure, how to draw movement, etc. Will I get better results by just DOING it more often, and practicing those things I'm not as good at? If anybody can help, I'd love the advice (I'm really trying to draw for realistic comics rather than... something else. I've always loved to draw people and creatures, and lately I've gotten alot of inspiration from The Walking Dead comic series)
Does anyone know how to train your mind, so that one is able to draw proportionally correct figures? I am very familiar with the ratios.but, when I draw the human figure it ends up being slightly slanted and proportionally incorrect. I am unable to notice the flaws until I look at the drawing in the mirror.
