Bristol paper vs drawing paper? Ive been trying to draw portraits on strathmore drawing paper and its kind of annoying because theres lots of white spaces in the paper after ive drawn on it. Little blotches of white can be seen, kinda looks grainy. Is bristol paper better? Thanks

What is the best drawing paper? hi, im wonder what paper is better for drawing, : arches hot pressed. stongenge or the strathmore 500 drawing series. im from mexico, but here is hard to find this paper, im going to buy one of these three options so i need the best refrence of this. thanks

Cheap colored paper for drawing on? I want to draw on colored and gray-scale paper with charcoal and pastel. However, all the paper I see is sold by the sheet at more than $1 for a sheet of 18 X 24! Strathmore had some pads of colored paper, but the price was far too high. Canson Colorline Art Papers are a little cheaper, but appear to be more for rough crafts and less for drawing on. Can anyone recommend some colored drawing paper, possibly in the form of a spiral drawing pad, that is cost-effective for someone who wants to experiment with drawing on color? Colors I'm most interested include muted earth tones, demure blues, and gray scale.

Cheap Drawing Paper vs Quality Drawing Paper? I know that the quality of different colored pencils, paints, drawing pencils can make a big difference when drawing (ex. prismacolor vs crayola). With higher quality drawing papers, I know that there are different tooth "depths" and things like that but what if I am drawing on drawing paper that I got from Wal-Mart (Brand = mead). Is the quality of the paper just as important? The reason I ask is because I was PLANNING on doing a sketch on my Mead paper and then doing the real drawing on my Strathmore but I got really into the sketch on the Mead paper. When I started coloring with my prismacolors, I got a lot of the "white dot" effect where the tooth isn't completely filled in. Have I just not put on enough layers or is it the quality of the paper???

Can I use graphite pencil on watercolor paper? I am trying to draw a really big picture, using graphite and charcoal. The problem is: the biggest paper I could find at the store was watercolor paper. I tried a few graphite pencils on it, and it erased kinda funny - now I'm not sure whether it is best for a charcoal/graphite medium. The paper is Strathmore Watercolor paper. How can we go about making limited editions of my fiancee's colored pencil and India ink drawngs? He has three original drawings done with Derwent Studio Colored pencils and detailed in India ink. They are a pair of Mallards, a Blue-winged Teal, and a Falcon. There were many hours consumed in the feather details and backgrounds of reeds and branches. He have been offered a fair sum of money for the falcon, but has not yet accepted. Due to the detailing and enormous amount of time it takes to finish each drawing; we are considering printing a limited edition of 100 of each. Long ago limited editions were created as lithographs on plates that were literally printed over and over until they were worn out; thereby creating it's own limit to the edition. I have no idea if this process still exists, or has technology created a new method of producing limited editions. We had a digital reproduction of them done professionally on the 80 lb. Strathmore drawing paper he originally used to create them; and I have to turn them upto the light in order to tell if it's the original or the print. However, I do not know if this is the correct production method. If you have any information regarding this process - we would be extremely grateful for any help you can offer. Thanks so much.

Does Strathmore still make Layout Bond? I went to about 5 Aaron Brothers to buy Layout Bond paper, because it's what i perfer to draw on, but i couldn't find it anywhere. Did they stop making it, and if so, why and are there any other alternatives to Layout Bond?

Need help in choosing a sketchpad? For christmas, one of my friends got me a gift card to our local art store, and I'd like to get a sketchpad along with some new pencils and charcoals. And I don't really know which brand is best. I want the paper to be good with graphite pencils, charcoals and maybe coloured pencils, or water colour pencils. Should I get: Strathmore Series 300 Sketch Pad Canson Biggie Sketch Pad Strathmore 400 series drawing pad ? Please and thank you skipping the watercolour. Will get individual watercolour paper.
